TRACK THE FAITH …
CONTEMPORARY ART IN SACRAL SPACE

A Performance by Briant Rokyta in the Church of Gaenserndorf in the context of KUNSTmesse, Austria. Powered by kunst.duenger.

March 2009

Moving through the church with a simple line of white chalk.

"It was new to me that a line of chalk contains so much." Karin Putz

A line sauntering and meandering only for itself, without a goal, a point on a spontaneous journey, ranging subliminally, like an animal, through time and space. Encountering and exploring its surroundings on its own terms, experiencing, expressing, responding on unimpeded instinct, immersed in its own timeless existence, touching, experiencing, knowing.

The line is life; a lifeline knowing only the now, seeing and sensing everything for the first time. The Catholic Church represents so much, both positive and negative, but the line is swinging free, innocent in the midst of all, wakening innumerable connections within those who look on.

The line is not asking for the past or the future of the Catholic Church, but only asking for what is happening there now.

This intervention gives cause for consideration, meditation and discussion for three weeks. It shows the presence of spirit in an unusual way and animates the search for God´s secret in this world.
